Belt Slip

Recommended Posts

I had all my belts replaced just under 2 months ago. About a week ago I started to get what sounded like belt slip when i changed down a gear when slowing down. Now the noise is very loud when I pull away to. It sounds like a screech which i assume is a belt, unfortunately it only makes this noise when i;m driving. Any ideas?

Oh yeah its worst when the engine in cold.

Thanks.

have you checked the tension of the V belts since the replacement, they do stretch from new.

Its a 2.0l 16v, I'm not sure what brand of belts where used but i reckon one of them has stretched. Can they be re-tensioned? On my 30 mile journey home from work they didn't really make much noise but its awful when the car is cold. Does that sound like belts or is it the PAS pump bearings?
