Rhodri 0 Posted February 22, 2007 I want to change my inlet manifold from the standard 42mm to the bigger 50mm on my 2.0 16v. Is it a straight forward swap or do i need anything else? I will be changing the throttle body to a 1.8 16v one which has been ported and gasflowed Cheers Rhodri
rado-steve 0 Posted February 22, 2007 Straight Forward Swap! But You can only buy the 50mm Gasket that goes between the top and bottom inlet from VW :(
Rhodri 0 Posted February 22, 2007 Alright great stuff. Thanks for that. I wasnt sure if you had to mess with the injectors or not.
rado-steve 0 Posted February 22, 2007 No, but they can be a total pain to remove if they have never been out!!!!
Rhodri 0 Posted February 22, 2007 What a swine don't think they have been touched since the car left factory!!

Rhodri 0 Posted February 22, 2007 No not the gasket the injectors might be hard work to remove
flusted 0 Posted February 23, 2007 gaskets are quite expensive, about £10 each i think. Remove injectors when the engines warm, they come out easy then
cvw 0 Posted February 28, 2007 so need a gasket in between top and bottom intake do we also need a gasket where the bottom intake attaches to the engine ? the other thing thats i havebeen thinkin about is what difference would gas flowin the manifold would make . where would the increase in power be if any at all ? cheers fellas
flusted 0 Posted February 28, 2007 I flowed my old 50mm one, you prob wont feel any difference. The head to manifold gaskets are the same whether 42mm or 50mm
