Sandy 0 Posted February 11, 2003 Hello Folks, Is it worth the money getting your charger upgraded above a stage 4 conversion ???
W3RKD 0 Posted February 11, 2003 depends on how far you plan on tuning the rest of your engine??
Sandy 0 Posted February 12, 2003 This is what I've had done so far gives me around 210bhp/207lbs/ft torque so if I went higher than a stage 4 what figures would I be looking at ??? AMD CHIP & PULLEY PLUS STAGE 3 CONVERSION ON THE SUPERCHARGER VIBRATECH FRONT ENGINE MOUNT K&N PANEL FILTER SUPER SPRINT CAT BYPASS PIPE SCORPION STAINLESS STEEL EXHAUST BIG VALVE HEAD SUPER SPRINT MANIFOLD 4 TO 1 SCHRICK CAM ADJUSTABLE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR (FUEL PRESSURE * 2)
Dubcharged 0 Posted February 12, 2003 What boost are you getting at the moment? 210bhp seems a tad low with those modifications unless you are using a pulley bigger than 68mm.
Sandy 0 Posted February 12, 2003 I am using a 70mm pulley and I think I am loosing a wee bit of power due to my exhaust not enough back pressure I am told.
G60ING 0 Posted February 12, 2003 I have a charger with all the mods and I love it driving a stock G60 is like plain toast.
Dubcharged 0 Posted February 14, 2003 Perhaps you should go for a 68mm pulley. You wont lose power with a large bore exhaust, you may lose bottom end torque but unlike turbos the charger doesnt need back pressure to perform.
Adam M 0 Posted February 15, 2003 sorry dubcharged, but just wanted to pick you up on something, turbo chargers do not like back pressure at all. the best exhaust on a turbo charged car is no exhaust since you want the largest pressure ratio accorss the impeller as possible in order to get it to spin as efficiently as possible. The only time you would ever want back pressure is before the turbo has spooled up, at which point the engine is effectively normally aspirated. On turbocharged engines, the torque gain realised by the turbo far exceeds that which comes from having high back pressure when offboost, so most of us choose to remove the back pressure just to bring the turbo in as soon as possible. endor71 0 Posted February 15, 2003 Been saving for a while. Wanted to do all at once (saves on workshop time) Also Chip would have to be changed with different specs on engine. Only one chip change instead of 2 or maybe 3. Had car about 6 months now and was happy b4 :) now :D :D
