corradoagogo 0 Posted May 3, 2007 hi need some help please, ive just fitted x4 new injectors to my engine, as the other 4 were toast. because the old injectors were running so bad for a while. it feels as if its over fueling and splutters at a stand still when i put the peddel down, this is a project car for me!! there is quite a big hole in the back box,i wanted to know if this had anything to do with it running bad ie back pressure. engine has had new plugs leads cap and arm., now im running out of ideas. could the isv be playing up?? any help would be greatfull :D :D
nocrap 0 Posted May 3, 2007 ISV shouldn't be a problem if its doing it with the pedal down, fuel metering head could be iffy. what state are the spark plugs coming out like when you've run it for a bit?? they should be able to tell you if it is over fuelling...do both micro switches work on the throttle? as well as the on in the air box..... corradoagogo 0 Posted May 3, 2007 the plugs are blacked up and sooty just after 1 minute of running, iv had meetering head to bits and gave it a good blow out and clean with commpressed air. the spray pattern is good as you would expext from new injectors??? was thinking fuel filter near the tank could do with a change? May be good to get all the system pressures checked out too. Haynes Passat manual covers some of the things you can check on the 9A fuel system, sensor resistances etc. so you could at least narrow it down before taking it to a specialist. davidwort 0 Posted May 5, 2007 how do i find the fault codes?? is it somthing i can do or do i have to have the car pluged in? still need some ideas i can try you either need a VW code reader/programmer (1552) or the VAG COM software on a PC and the appropriate leads to connect to the diagnosis port under the gearlever cover. It's possible that this system (on the KE-jet 9A engine) can be 'read' by using a test light, you'd need a Haynes bosch injection system manual or Passat manual that covers this engine. Basic handheld fault readers and resetting tools are used by most independent garages these days, find a friendly one and ask if they'll check for fault codes, or you could go to one of the Corrado Club or forum meets where several people have laptops and VAG COM.
