16v hubs and vr6 hubs

I have 2.0 16v hubs in my uprights, but i want to fit vr6 hubs into them. is it possible. are they the same size?

 

i know it sounds a strange thing to do but i have my reasons

no i need to know about the hubs, not the uprights. the hubs is what holds the wheel and they also rotate on bearings.

the hub is commonly used as a term for the whole lot. If you are thinking of putting a 5 stud flange into a 4 stud hub, then yes, this does work

Yeah, the "hub" is the bit that the wheel and CV joint attach to. The big iron lump that houses the hub and the uprights, tie rods connect to is called the "Bearing housing" according to VW.

That very much depends on what you are trying to acheive - give us some more detail, and I or others should be able to help

basically have all the parts to do a proper vr6 conversion, but my wheels are four stud so i wish to keep the old hubs (16v) inside the vr6 uprights. this allows the wider track im after

If you are after a wider track than the current 3 stud setup that is on your rado, get some wishbones and driveshafts from a 4 stud MK3 Golf, or a passat (F-N reg). This allow all your current stuff to fit as per normal, but will give you a wider track, circa 16mm per side.

 

If you arent wanting to change the stud pattern of the wheels, this is a much easier solution!
