Critical_Mass 10 Posted June 25, 2007 So, was allowed to leave work early due to the amount of rain and flooding we're getting. Toddled home at a 20mph pace due to the large amounts of water on the roads- some places the full width of the road and paths are submerged in water. People having to queue up to allow oncoming traffic to use the middle of the road to get through the puddle (lake) and vise versa. Steam pouring from the car although going slower than snails pace through the water, at some points i thought id just stall due to the water possibly getting on the alternator or some other electrics :| Im just glad my rado isnt lowered like alot of you guys- think it'd be a good idea to leave the lowered rados at home til the flooding subsides. Luckily i got home safe and sound. Is it the same where you are?

Jim 2 Posted June 25, 2007 Apparently some guy up in Hull I think it was got sort of trapped in a storm drain and the fire service could not free him before the flood water got up to him and drowned him.. imagine that!! :( I don't know why they couldn't have sorted out some sort of scuba thing or even a length of pipe being held above the surface for him to breathe through until they could free him! Dreadful :( We've had a lot of rain here again today but its not been heavy enough to flood us as much - we had that last week! I tell you - if there are any hosepipe bans this summer..... yorkshireone 0 Posted June 25, 2007 yeah it was on local radio today whilst they were trying to free him, to be honest i think it was the cold that got him, not the water. shame. :(

Critical_Mass 10 Posted June 25, 2007 Aye, great shame about the bloke in hull, im sure more could have been done. Goes to show how bad it is in places. Although this eve, the sun was just peaking through the cloud and was looking to improve. According to the BBC 5 day forecast its sunny on wednesday, i wont hold my breath for that (no pun intended :( )
andyVR6 0 Posted June 26, 2007 had to go to leeds yesterday for a job interview got that over and done with then the traffic back up the M1 was stood due to some idiot deciding to take a leap of faith off a bridge further down near sheffield. decided to get off and go back roads and picked my mate up as his work had flooded. he got a few vids of some of the lakes we had to go through. would seriously recommend leaving lowered C's at home http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/andy-dt/?action=view¤t=25062007022.flv http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/andy-dt/?action=view¤t=25062007020.flv http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/andy-dt/?action=view¤t=25062007019.flv http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/andy-dt/?action=view¤t=25062007018.flv http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/andy-dt/?action=view¤t=25062007017.flv http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y4/andy-dt/?action=view¤t=25062007021.flv
