Rocket Ron 1 Posted July 16, 2007 Started the refurb of the rear axle on my VR on Friday all bolts undone easy until I got to the Brake Regulator what a pig the bolts were siezed had to saw one off, so now have to drill one out. While its off replacing the bushes getting my friendly garage JMR Littlehampton havn't the space to do it myself. While its off I'm replacing all the brake hoses with braided. Brake Regulator. Suspension Top Rubbers. Axle given a good clean may even repaint it. Also while its off I've purchased a Miltek Cat back exhaust to replace the standard thought it was time the original is still on the car (1994) While its off I'm thinking of replacing the dampers. I want to keep it standard anyone replaced them might try GSF any good or should I get them from the stealers. Any one replaced standard with standard. drunkenmunkey 0 Posted July 17, 2007 Hi They should be pretty much the same as far as I know, although I'm not familiar with GSF stuff, EuroCarParts stock BOGE OE items at about £30 each. By the way if the old exhaust has no holes in it I would be interested in buying it.
Rocket Ron 1 Posted July 19, 2007 No the exhaust hasn't any holes but at the moment I'll hang onto it, but will let know if I get rid. How good are the borge dampers
dinkus 10 Posted July 19, 2007 Be warned if you put new, standard height dampers and/or springs on then it's gonna sit very high. (think a 4" gap between top of tyre and bottom of wheel arch).
vwdeviant 0 Posted July 19, 2007 Be warned if you put new, standard height dampers and/or springs on then it's gonna sit very high. (think a 4" gap between top of tyre and bottom of wheel arch). You can run stock dampers and lowered springs.. just cut down the bumpstops... I have Bogie Shocks on mine and it's down 60mm...
