Riley 0 Posted July 18, 2007 Ive just been searching and have come across something that caught my attention... I can't remember the last time i heard my fuel pump 'run on' after turning the car off... Any problems that this will cause? Maybe just the 'not starting first turn of the key' ? But what about the popping/slow revving im having trouble with? Can i bridge the wiring to the fuel pressure switch (on the end of the fuel rail) to see if it runs the pump? that would point to the pressure switch being faulty right? Neil. Riley 0 Posted July 18, 2007 Cheers Steve, It does have a standard fit immobiliser...but the fuel pump still primes etc? Neil.
Yandards 0 Posted July 18, 2007 The fuel pump run on facilty is only there to aid warm starting by preventing vapour lock and is triggered by a temp switch in the engine bay, as such you can rule it out of your current problem.
Riley 0 Posted July 18, 2007 Cheers m8. How would i go about sorting this problem? I thought it was triggered by the fuel pressure switch on the end of the fuel rail...right hand side? Neil.
Andy G 0 Posted July 22, 2007 my corrado g60 does exactly the same. the fuel pump starts up after around 3 minuites of stopping the engine, and runs for a couple of minuites. i noticed a verystrong smell of petrol. im not sure if it does it all the time
Supercharged 2 Posted July 22, 2007 Strong smell of petrol = leak Andy... I would replace that hose at the end of the rail asap if you've not done so - it can leak fuel onto the manifold and potentially cause an engine fire!
Riley 0 Posted July 22, 2007 Yep,very common thing to deteriorate on the g60...and the scarey bit is that they can look fine on the outside, but be badly split on the inside. Ps:Anyone know under what conditions the fuel pump should run on? Neil.
