GSF rad didn't sit in the crossmember dimples properly, as such kept popping out of one side despite being clamped at top by slam panel! Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

My mate works at VW and quoted me £153 at that was with 18% discount. I just ordered one today from Heathrow VAG and it cost me £160 + VAT. Tried to get them to discount it but they weren't going to budge on the price. it should be easy to change yourself Spent an hour and a half this evening removing the old radiator ready for the arrival of the new one. didn't use the bumper/slam panel removal method but just unbolted the fans from the radiator first, removed them and then removed the rad. You have to remove the battery first, the N/S headlight/grille and apply some gentle upwards pressure on the top of the slam panel but it will come out with a bit careful manoevring. I've decided to change the thermostat and housing whilst I've got the coolant drained, no doubt it's gonna give up at some time seeing as it's nearly 12 years old! Lol looks like i got my rad at the right time then i got mine off a mate who works for audi (same group as VW) and he got the discount aswell! Asked him to sort me one out and phoned me back later and said its going to be pricey so when he told me £122 quid i was more than happy! Must vary from which part of the country you get it from! Was just interested about this and started doing a bit of Googling and it turns out that Denso have an office in Coventry.. just across from that Nando's where we always go just off the M6! Toad 0 Posted August 6, 2007 I put a post up in the suppliers thread. Picked my new vr radiator up for £99.87 all in, from a radiator specialist near me.
