Horrible sound!

Recommended Posts

Hi folks

Last couple of weeks I've noticed a terrible screeching/griding sound coming from the back of the car when I'm reversing. It did it about 6 months ago then just went away but it appears to have come back with a vengence.

Anybody got any ideas what might be causing this?

Cheers

Andy

Were the rear discs and bearings changed? - Worth checking the play in the bearings - if jap ones from GSF were used then they only last about 6 months tops!!

You may have got some rust down between the disc and carrier if the bearings are loose...

1-way mice?

I'll go with siezed caliper/ cable or cheap bearings.. in that order...

Reminds me we're coming up to winter time to re-grease the handbrake cables and check the boots....

Thanks for all the help guys. Reckon i'll have to nip down to the mechanics with it now as it doesn't sound like it can be fixed with a big hammer!

Cheers
