Cnut 0 Posted September 28, 2007 I have a 95 vr6, I noticed that during normal driving conditions the water temp sits around 70 degrees but when sat in traffic it creeps up to 90 degrees which i believe is normal but as soon as the car is on the open road it drops to 70 degrees again. I recently replaced the thermostat housing, thermostat (90 degree), and blue temp sensor. Im not sure what is causing this? the oil temp reaches 98 degrees which is normal. StuartFZR400 0 Posted September 28, 2007 I'd be happy as long as oil tep reaches 98. Come summer you'll see everyone complaining of high temps. I've noticed modern bike water temps now run at 73 - forget it; as it seems a new thermo stat would not stick open.
Cnut 0 Posted September 28, 2007 I was just a bit concerned that the car might be overfueling due to the ecu thinking the car might be running cold?
StuartFZR400 0 Posted September 28, 2007 ie running on choke. Are getting a different mpg? Are the revs particularly high at idle?
Cnut 0 Posted September 28, 2007 No the revs drop to normal and i averaged 32mpg on a long run last weekend whilst the temp was sitting at 70 degrees
