Getting worried.

I'm going to look at a C on Sunday, but I am seriously having second thoughts now. Pretty much all I read about on here seems to be about peoples VR's breaking down, and problems. Are they really that bad? The one I'm going to see has a full specialist history, and passed it's MOT this morning with no problems.

 

Please help to re-assure me!

don't be put off at all and if you have any doubts just use the aa or rac cos then you will have total peice of mind for i think around 150 quid but to be honest with full service and mot all thats left is to check the clutch is'nt really heavy cos thats quite a big job and just haver a listen for the timing chains once she is warmed up otherwise they are great and once you've driven it you shud know wether or not you like it :D

Hi Matt,

 

You have to rememeber people will only put up posts on a forum when they have probs with their cars.

 

I'm sure most C owners experience no probs on a daily basis but no one will ever put a post on reading "Hey my C got me to work and back fine today" :D

 

Having said that it does suffer from common probs you'd associate with any low volume production car. Have a look at the post with things to look out for.

 

But once you get one, you'll forgive it for anything

Already armed myself with a copy of the buying guide, I'll just have to see how it goes. The car sounds 100% genuine, as does the seller. Fingers crossed!

Yes the forum can seem all doom and gloom at first, painting a really bad picture of Corrados but think of it this way, if we didn't all share our problems, ideas and knowledge (1200 members don't forget), how many of us would just throw the towel in at the first problem and live to regret it afterwards?

 

If it's full historied and tested, there won't be much wrong with it. No car comes with a satisfaction or reliability guarantee (especially S/hand ones) but believe me, when you take that car for a long drive, any doubts you initially had will vanish instantly.

as everyone else has mentioned you'll hear more about peoples problems with their Corrado's on a forum due to the fact they are trying to get some info/tips/hints/advice etc.....so its painting a picture of there being nothing but problems with them......ok you will get the odd-dog of a motor but you get that with every other motor

 

you also have to be aware that the youngest Corrado will be over 8 years old(last one made JUN/JUL 95)so certain components will be wearing out at roughly the same time.......so can make the car appear unreliable when in fact its not

 

i still think its pretty good going that most C's(especially VR6's)are more often than not running on their original clutches at 80k+ miles given the nature of the way they can be driven and the amount of power going thru the front wheels......

 

anyway by the sounds of it this one you're going to look over sounds ideal.......though obviously seeing is believing but just remember that it is an "old" sports coupe and will have been driven hard at some point in its life and as i mentioned previously parts will be reaching the end of their life too......so don't go expecting that you're not going to have to replace something within months of ownership.......if you can try and lay aside some of your budget for repairs(eg £500 or more.....if you can afford to....that way you don't get caught out)
