russed99 0 Posted December 6, 2007 I'm looking for a bit of advice. I have a 90 1.8 valver and the head gasket recently went, i have swapped the engine for a younger one so happy days. However, at the same time the heater matrix blew (hot water in the drivers footwell). After looking through some old threads for the car b4 i had it i have found that a dangerous mod has been done involving the bypass valve not being replaced and instead bodged with two short lengths of 22mm copper pipe. Is it this mod that has blown the matrix? Cheers, Russ.
VR6 0 Posted December 6, 2007 Sounds like the heater matrix blew and someone has bypassed the matrix itself by using the copper pipes.
flusted 0 Posted December 7, 2007 i think he means hes replaced the valaves with pipe. Its not too much of a problem as the new matrix's are ment to be better. I dont run the valves and have 2 lengths of pipe aswell
