vagingit.co.uk 0 Posted January 18, 2008 Ive just bought a 91 kr 16v, drove it 200 miles home without fault, other than the heater being luke warm at the best of times. I fixed the heater, heater bypass valves blocked, but now I think the car is running hotter. when normal driving around town, the temp gauge sits mid way between 70 and 110 degrees, but it only went just past 70 degrees on the motorway back fom birmingham before the valves were changed. Is this normal? now the valves work, its running at the right temp as opposed to a bit cold? the oil temp runs at 102/104 degrees around town, then about 108/110 on the motorway. This all sound ok? mattkh 0 Posted January 18, 2008 Hi What did you do to the heater bypass valve ?
davidwort 0 Posted January 18, 2008 sounds fine to me, oil is what I'd expect and regardless of town or motorway the water should sit mid way all the time if the thermostat and radiator fan are working properly.

When I got the heater bypass valves replaced, they checked the cooling system over, and everything seemed in order, so glad it all seems ok. cheers, wasnt too sure how hot these should run, my 8v jetta gti ran at lower than 100 degrees all the time, unless nailing it! davidwort 0 Posted January 19, 2008 ... my 8v jetta gti ran at lower than 100 degrees all the time, unless nailing it! yeah, 8v's always seem to run cooler, but then the temp senders are on the head and the 16v's got a lot more bits going on in there :)
