Aux belt part number when using Vortech

Can I please ask if anyone has the part number for the aux belt needed when running a Vortech charger? I need to order a few and not sure which one to get. I have read aux belts for air-con VR6's are ok to use - but again any part numbers would be brilliant.

Any help appreciated :)

There is no part number. You just walk into VW and say "Can I have a belt for a VR6 with air con please?" And he'll say, "certainly sir, that'll be £54+VAT please".

 

In terms of belt size, IIRC it's a 7DPK 1390.

 

I would say get the VW one despite the cost because they're a Continental belt which grip well, but recently they changed to a Japanese brand which doesn't grip so well.

 

GSF do A/C belts for about £18 IIRC and grip OK.

Thanks mate. I think the belt thats on it just now is a GSF one or similar. I don't get any belt slip with the 8psi pulley - but did manage to rip through the first one after slippage (off the charger pulley...). Thanks a lot - will get a few ordered

What is it with you and Nick shredding belts?! :lol:

 

I used one belt in 25K of Superchargedness :-)

 

Check the idler pulley mate. I warned Nick about how schitt the bearing is in it and mine seized up solid. Yours might be heading the same way? I also told him to make sure it is aligned properly to remove any belt 'over hang'. Not sure if he did.

i get a dpk - ribbed on both sides - and i've only shredded one to date

 

supplied to a few members to date and as far as i'm aware, they have performed well for everyone.

 

i can get them and post them to your door for £20

yeh i agree paul, i used one of yours for about 8 months with no belt slip at all, also Leon i noticed, and told Nick that he's belt was way to tight. that could also be a reason why your getting through them??

Well I think this is exactly what is happening now - the bearings in the idler pulley are done. They are making a horrific squealing noise! Few questions if I may (I am not with the car through the week until I move so I need some help!) - how many idlers on the vr6? Is it (or them) changed when a charger is fitted? I'll probably replace the standard idler with either that Vortech one or the Gruven parts pulley. Still need to work out whether this Vortech idler brings any added value
