MonkeyVR6 0 Posted February 24, 2008 Got a quote from a place where I've had some work done before (http://www.hg-tuning-paderborn.de/index.htm) and they've quoted me €298 (£224) for 2 brakes discs and pads for the front of my 1995 Corrado VR6, this also includes labour. Just sounded a bit expensive to me especially considering I get 20% off as I don't pay German tax. :? Any comments I'd be grateful!

Supercharged 2 Posted February 24, 2008 Yeah, it's on the high side... VAG discs and pads are about £100 over here plus 1 hours labour for a garage...
VR6 0 Posted February 24, 2008 Had front discs and pads done on my VR a week or so back and the total cost including VAT and labour was £140. (independent garage)
MonkeyVR6 0 Posted February 24, 2008 OEM parts? Ah, I didn't think of that, I'll have to ask him. I had a feeling it sounded a bit pricy. Is there a huge difference between VW discs/pads and the cost of ones from GSF (for example)? Last time I was there, and we were discussing my brakes, he did mention that he thought it was a good idea to change the brake fluid too...he mentioned something about having too much water in the brake fluid. I'm buying 4 tyres from them too!
yorkshireone 0 Posted February 25, 2008 Can make some healthy saving by going to GSF. Either way, like the others have said, it does sound a bit pricey. IIRC I paid £120+VAT for front disks and pads last time I had it done, and that was with VW parts. Not too sure about the added labour of draining the system tho... Jim 2 Posted February 25, 2008 With two mechanics at it, shouldn't take even an hour to change brake fluid provided all the bleed nipples come undone!
MonkeyVR6 0 Posted February 25, 2008 Went to a different garage today and I've got front discs and pads and 4 tyres for €466 (about £350). Result! Going to get them to change the brake fluid too. Woop! Woop!
