flusted 0 Posted February 25, 2008 Just got my 16vg60 engine running but the FPR on the custom fuel rail hits the bonnnet. Its supposed to have .25npt fittings? Is it possible to get a angled joiner or something to move the FPR? if so, where from? Also, the joins leak slightly, should i use teflon tape? Heres the fuel rail

Dec 1 Posted February 25, 2008 You really need NPT'F' (f standing for fuel) fittings! They are compatible with NPT threads, but are designed to be watertight at pressure, without having to use teflon tape. I wouldn't recommend the use of any sort of tape with fuel fittings either, as petrol corrodes the tape pretty quickly and it can contaminate your fuel supply. Proper NPTF fittings on their own will do the job nicely! Is it 1/4 NPTF -> 1/4 NPTF 90 deg union you are after? I have a few spare 1/4 NPTF -> 4AN 90 deg unions lying about somewhere if taht happens to be the right size?

waynos 0 Posted February 25, 2008 i was saying in your gallery that they leak. i have the excact same one. take the rail to pirtek - these guys specialise in fittings like these.they will give you a fitting that has an in built rubber washer to stop the leak. As the holes on the rail are slightly chamfered the washer didnt do anything, stil leaked. I ended up using injector o - rings between the fitting and this has worked fine. my fuel pressure is 3bar

Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 26, 2008 My NPT threaded fuel rail was a nightmare for leaks, but I've had it modified to standard BSP with a dowty seal and it's completely tight and odour free now.
