monVR6 0 Posted March 16, 2008 Hi all Tried a search - but just need an easy answer really? How easy is it to change a front engine mount - and which is best? I understand Vibratechnics is expensive - and a golf diesel can be used?? Thanks all - apologies if this has been covered elsewhere?

herisites 0 Posted March 16, 2008 VT ones are expensive but they make a big difference so worth it imo. Don't go for VT ones all round though as that will make it too stiff and will send the vibrations through the car! Just a front one and then renew the others. The mk2 diesel one is for the gearbox mount, its slightly stiffer than standard corrado one and makes the gear changes a bit smoother. Easy job to replace the front one, just support the engine with a jack (using the corner of the sump as a jacking point and using a bit of wood to spread the weight) then undo the bolts for the mount, whip it out and put in a new one. The gearbox one is a pain in the arse though, done the same as the front but its a bit more fiddly trying to get the mount in and out.
