mikecb1 0 Posted April 11, 2008 The intermediate transverse box on my VR6 exhaust system is getting rather moth-eaten, and I will need to replace it soon. Unfortunately it comes all-of-a-piece with the final box, and Mr VW wants over £300 plus VAT for the combined part. G60 and 2.0 Corrados use a similar-looking intermediate box, and these come up regularly on eBay at reasobale prices. Does anyone know if they can be made to fit a VR? paul20v 0 Posted April 11, 2008 i am no master but the pipe diameters will be different the vr will have a bigger bore pipe , at the end of the day it is nearly a 3litre so it requires more flow
was8v 0 Posted April 11, 2008 Since the OEM unit is around £300 and you have to drop the rear axle to fit it (£££££), most recommend a cat-back stainless system for around £300 instead of the OEM unit - Magnex / supersprint / borla (most avoid powerflow). Pattern exhausts are available eg walker etc but the quality is not so good, plus they may still only come as a combined middle and back box. You could chop and use a join instead of dropping the rear axle. If the "suitcase" as it is known is on its way out then its likely the back box is not far off too? tandino 0 Posted April 11, 2008 Just get yourself a Miltek chap. Very good quality, nice looking OE'ish tailpipe and a lovely sound. Not intrusive at all until your giving it beans then it sounds wonderful! 8)
