Reccomend me a wideband controller

Just been looking at wideband gauges, i have a narrow band gauge at the moment with an extra lambda sensor fitted in the exhaust.

Whats the best set up to go for? also whats the best bargain?

picked up a lc-1 with xd-16 gauge from the classifieds, fitted today and what a bit of kit, im well impressed.

 

defo need a remap though

only had a quick mess around but was showing 7.6 on idle and 22.3 on throttle which is really lean isnt it?

Thats really really rich and dangerously lean.

 

 

 

Did the guage come with any instructions in regards to what voltages represent what afr's?

You can then calibrate the lc-1 accordingly coz that can't be rite?!?!?!?!

 

At WOT does it feel like you have a parachute behind you causing a drag effect ?

That indicates that you are running lean.

At WOT's you want 13's 12's.

 

11's at the most really.

At idle high 14's 15's.

agreed about the parachute comment. remember im running N/A so even worse with charger?. The gauge im using plugs in on a digital output rather than anologue so no need to programme, i calibrated the sensor etc before i started

 

Thinking back, my co pot is set to about 2000 ohms to try and get co down on idle, would that effect it that much on throttle?

It was my understanding that the CO was only for the idle mixture...

 

may be wrong though.

Wouldn't have thought that would cause the extreme readings you are getting though... :scratch:

 

Where is the probe located?

probe located right next to standard 1 on the cat bypass. Its in from the top to prevent moisture ect as per fitting instructions.

Car wasnt really warmed up, will investigate more tomorrow.

I believe the co pot effects fuelling slightly under load but only a small ammount

yeah i reckon when you let the car warm up,that idle reading will get leaner.

Probably just cold start enrichment.

 

A good investment the lc-1.

once warmed up it stayed at 7.4 even on hard acceleration, shoots back to 20.6 on coast down though. Guessing when i put the charger back on it should even out?

Fueling sounds wrong to me. :scratch:

Have you got your new chip?

Was the code written with the flow rate of your new injectors in mind?

Guess we should wait till you have your charger fitted and go from there,but the charger doesn't generate boost anyway at idle and light throttle so i'd expect a normal fuel ratio around that area?!?

Don't drive it too hard in the meantime because it should not be going that lean upon deceleration/coast down.

I still think that is excessively rich for just a start up map though.

Could end up fouling your plugs..

I had this problem when I was tuning my engine a few weeks ago.

Anyway lets wait till you have that new charger.

Is it due any day now??

had a fiddle with the laptop plugged into the gauge and into the lc-1 and now the gauge seems to be working properly :clap: about 12ish on idle going to about 10 on acceleration then round to 02 when i lay off the pedal

that sounds a bit saner.

 

I guess it will do for running in your car until you can get a proper re-map.

12AF is far too rich for idle and 10AF on acceleration is practically bore washing....

 

Program the LC-1 to be as follows:-

 

14.7:1 Gasoline

 

AFR

 

0V = 10AF

5V = 20AF

 

It will then give the correct readings.

 

If still reading the same, you defo need a remap!

is that a generic 16vg60 chip,did they tailor the code towards your engine and injectors.

Your running quite big(in terms of flow rate) injectors aren't u?

yeah its a rough "get you goin" chip. running 440cc lime greens.

 

Seems its more 11 on idle, 14ish on throttle, 10 on full throttle.

 

Remember this is still without charger so N/A

ok,but at idle the charger wouldn't come into play so your engine would just be sucking anyway.

 

I would only see 11's when driving like a lune at full bore.

 

You should have high 14''s low 15's at idle and light driving.

that to me is the weirdest one.

 

R u sure that lc-1 is configured properly?

I have had no experiece with the digital output so I can't comment.

well i updated the firmware on it yesturday then it calibrated itself, then it starting giving those readings? il try put a short log up later
