C. Will Corrado G60 2 0 Posted November 26, 2009 loving the TT dash, how easy is it going to be to fit though?
Slimg60 0 Posted November 26, 2009 TT dash looks good, thats a quality repair on the airbag. Always fancied doing this since seeing Jay R's last corrado. 8)
waynos 0 Posted November 26, 2009 probably wont be very easy to do haha, but im confident i can get it in there! ordering the rest of the dash tomorrow so hopefully it wont be long before i can start test fitting it
waynos 0 Posted December 7, 2009 right ive managed to source a glove box, radio /heater cage and under steering wheel cowling for the dash.no pics as yet. I did a test fit of the top half in my other rado. heres how the dash sat without any chopping - looks good however it sits too far forward and fouls up against the indicator stalks, was pretty suprised that curve around the windscreen part is of the dash is almost identical to the corrado close up of where it hits the indicator stalks crap pic of the fit up by the windscreen another random shot heres the underside. Ive cut back to the black line to allow the dash to sit further back ( didnt cut through the vinyl so i can fold it back round and glue it to keep a factory finish) also got hold of a couple more vents as two were broken and wouldnt sit firmly in the dash. Also got three more rings to go in the switch holes as three were missing.
waynos 0 Posted December 19, 2009 update on the dash, made two brackets for ach side that link up to the original corrado dash mounts. (they shall be tidied up once everything fits ok) I have also made three brackets that go along the windscreen edge of the dash onto the bodywork to stop the dash flexing. ended up cutting another inch off the back as it was still sitting to far forward - when the gear lever was in 1st your knuckles would hit the heater control panel. All sorted now and here is the new pioneer head unit i got p88rsii baby! sounds so nice
waynos 0 Posted June 22, 2010 been a while since i updated. i managed to get hold of some image wheels for a bargain! test fit on car i started to split them down to repolish the dishes heres the result As i want to colour code the centres to the car i did a quick mock up with the wheels in matt black and something didnt seem right. The centres looked far to busy so out came the metal filler and i proceeded to fill the recesses in the spokes heres the result my 2.5 inch lips arrived today ( measure 3 inch but to the tyre seat its 2.5) mmmm yummy im starting to get excited again. had a little accident in the rado which is now all fixed up but i need to spray all the panels beore i get the wheels on
20vtvw 0 Posted June 22, 2010 great work on the wheels . 8)what size do the new dishes make them? hows the dash coming along??
waynos 0 Posted June 22, 2010 to be honest the dash got put back with all my other projects but as ive finally managed to wire up the clocks im back on it.As i litterally got the bare dash ive had to make up brackets to hold it up. the main bulk of it will be a tt dash but the centre console will be custom and a few other bits. But im looking forward to getting that in! Need to plumb in all the heater ducting and im pretty much there
waynos 0 Posted June 22, 2010 oh and the new dishes make them 9 inch. (ten if you go edge to edge) :)
coullstar 0 Posted June 22, 2010 Wheels look so much better, woudlnt be able to tell theve been done.
waynos 0 Posted June 22, 2010 thanks mate, its taken long enough just to get that one done! but i shall take my time so they are all perfect
waynos 0 Posted July 14, 2010 Now i had a lil bump in mr rado but all is good, its given me the motivation to get things done! first off smoothed front bumper..... i had a spare rear bumper knocking about so i set about cutting out pieces to fill in the indicator, fogs and number plate recess. sat in the recess i used a soldering iron to tack it in place then went along the whole thing making small joins with the soldering iron ( its stronger than it looks!) i then cut small rod shaped pieces from the donor bumper and used my gas iron to melt them into the cuts i previously made. then flatted it down a bit skimmed the lot with a thin layer of filler more pics on that soon as its pretty much complete. I thought why stop there. shaved door handles! bonnet got the same treatment small bits welded in just waiting for that to harden before i prime it. rear badge shaved small disc made to weld in the recess useful magnetic clamp to hold it in place welded ground smooth filled and primed

Critical_Mass 10 Posted July 14, 2010 I thought it was me seeing things ^^ Good work mate. Got anymore pics of the rear badge work?
Kempy 0 Posted July 14, 2010 so your doing the whole bumper 8) lots more sanding than me, did you do it all by hand? I cant stand doing so I use powertools
waynos 0 Posted July 14, 2010 whoops dunno how that double post happened! yea once ive finshed withthe bumper you can have whatever is left. Ill also be smoothing my tow eye and the seams just under the lights. Kempy all that sanding was done by hand with a block. Originally i wasnt going to go smooth but as the front end got mashed including my in pro headlights, fogs and indicators im not really up for spending out on more. Im also not keen on cleaning around silly things like washer jets and side repeaters so they had to go lol
waynos 0 Posted July 18, 2010 more bits done. corrado badge removed - more bloody holes (why couldnt they just stick them on) used my dremel to remove the paint from the edges welded up the holes filled and primed , with a guide coat on top flattened again and painted matt black (filler and primer is porous so i dont want to undo all my hardwork by letting moisture set in) other side Also got to work on the bumper smoothing out the tow eye hole cut a little piece out of my donor bumper sanded the edges of the hole in the bumper and sat the piece into it plastic welded in flattened down its been filled now, just waiting for that to dry
waynos 0 Posted July 18, 2010 also got a merc sprinter vent that shall be welded in tommorrrow
Abdul 0 Posted July 18, 2010 Damn, im very impressed mate, awesome work. Are u going to be painting the car yourself too? Even if not, you'll be saving alot of money by doing all this welding yourself! Abdul
waynos 0 Posted July 18, 2010 i was going to but cant find anywhere for me to do it so ill be getting somebody else to do it. tying to keep costs down by doing as much as i can.Ill probably strip all the lights etc before it goes in also
dan 0 Posted July 18, 2010 A lot of work there mate :notworthy: It'll all be worth while & now is the time to do everything you can think off. Did you know that you don't have to use actual plastic plates for number plates! All you need is the text to be on a reflective background. This is easily done by applying or printing the text on to reflective self adhesive vinyl cut to the size of a standard plate. Just thinking that it would look well on your smoothed front bumper
waynos 0 Posted July 18, 2010 interesting, do you know where i can get that reflective vinyl from?
dan 0 Posted July 18, 2010 interesting, do you know where i can get that reflective vinyl from? Yeah I use it at work. I'll make you one & send it to if you like, just pay the postage
Kempy 0 Posted July 18, 2010 what were you gonna do with your plate? Im not sure what Im gonna do with mine
