paulvr6 0 Posted June 11, 2008 hi, just bought my vr6 on saturday and on the way home i was doing a steady 80mph for around half an hour when the car just lost all engine power and slowed to about 70 then started again. i then slowed down to 70 but it was still doing it around every 15 mins or so. slowing down to 60ish then the accelleration would come back. any help would be apreciated cheers. oh its a 92 on a k plate if that helps
Critical_Mass 10 Posted June 11, 2008 Could be a dodgy coil pack/ht lead/plug?
was8v 0 Posted June 11, 2008 Could be a dodgy coil pack/ht lead/plug? Should have a dizzy on a 92 K like mine, not a coilpack. But yeah sounds like a bit of a missfire. I'd check or replace plugs/leads/dizzy cap/rotor arm first as critical said. The problem with these kind of intermittent missfires is they are evry difficult to trace, you replace something and think its fixed and then it comes back 2 days later. Usually intermittent misses are electrical though so check/replace the above. Those parts are cheap for quality parts from vagspares.co.uk - stay away from cheapo GSF leads tho. mamboman 0 Posted June 17, 2008 Paul, check your ECU. It may be something like the ignition coil shorting out.
