NEIL1711 0 Posted September 26, 2008 Just joined the forum and am restoring a corrado after it has been standing for nearly 3 years, (see newbie area-old Vdubber, all fluids / oils have been changed and have now got engine running, it runs sweat apart from a ticking/tapping noise at tic over, sounds tappety. on slight revs it disappears, but if left on low revs comes back and slowly builds up in volume the longer you leave it, any idea what the remedy would be. Also if not started for a while the starter will not kick in off the key when trying to start it but a shove 12V up the starter soleniod and it fires up a treat then will start no problem on the key after that, although there is a slight delay from turning the key the the starter kicking in as if it is building up momentum to kickin. Any help much appreciatted. Regards Neil.
fla 9 Posted September 26, 2008 might be that teh engine needs the hydraulics filling up with oil. Let it get to temp (80C)run for a while and then take it for a good run, might help clear it out a bit. Othersie it could be several things eg tappets worn, tensioner, guides, maybe something simple like teh serpentine belt bearing or tensioner. Your ignition switch may be mullered if the starter is not kicking in from the key.
