Euro CP Steering rack for 2.0 16V - warning!

My C is currently as Yaash motorsport to get a new rack fitted. I got the recon rack from Euro Carparts (part no. 603440011), and the guys at Yaash phoned me earlier saying it doesn't fit! :shock: Apparently the UJ's dont line up on the steering colomn. It appears that the rack I need is the one fitted to the VR6 (more expensive :( ) So just a word of warning if any of you guys get this part from ECP - check which rack you have first, as it seems their computer is wrong in some cases.

That's what I thought - maybe some 16V's got fitted with parts from the VR6 parts bin :?

VAG has a habit of using bits from the parts bin on run-out models, they've done it since the 60's with the Beetle... If you have a late (J plate, or VERY late H) 1.8 16V (KR engine) then it wouldn't suprise me if they fitted a different rack 'cos they'd run out of the 'official' 16V ones... :? :roll:
