Batty 0 Posted November 13, 2008 1.8 valver needs a new stat, i have the part ready to go in. I got in my pit last night and noticed the p/s pump has to be removed (well certainly its bracket) to access the water pump, where i presume the 'stat is based. any hints or tips to make my life any easier? cheers Matt :salute:
boost monkey 0 Posted November 13, 2008 You've already summed it up mate. Take the PAS bracket off. There are 3 vertical bolts (1 long, 2 short IIRC) that hold the bracket on and one short horizontal one which attaches it to the PAS adjustment arm or something like that. Undo those four and then you'll see the stat housing behind it, just 2 small bolts after that. pretty sure they're all 10mm heads.
Batty 0 Posted November 13, 2008 cheers chap, just checking there was no hidden problems i'd missed when looking over it :)
davidwort 0 Posted November 13, 2008 I hate getting that o-ring and the stat back into the pump with the plastic flange back on all upside down, it's so much easier to fix it onto the pump off the car, that way gravity helps rather than hinders :) you'll need a second o-ring though for the pump to block if you do that. boost monkey 0 Posted November 13, 2008 good points david, you will indeed need an o ring for the stat to pump and then from the pump to block.
