k511fhe 0 Posted December 8, 2008 hi i purchased some sportline cup uprated struts and lowering springs for my vr6,fitted them and all seemed good  anyway a couple of days later i was experiencing a horrible grating noise from the rear,so i removed the rear wheels.to my horror there were grooves on both the rear tyres where the cup the spring sits on had been rubbing.i am only running standard 15inch speedlines. should i have to space the wheels,or have i been sold the wrong kit? cheers dave
joinerboy 0 Posted December 8, 2008 im no expert but i ordered some new coilovers today and i was told that i could possibly need spacers for the wheels to clear the coilovers. check your instructions. if the new springs are bigger than your standard ones then spacers are probably required

coullstar 0 Posted December 9, 2008 Very strange. All looks normal although the rear spring plates do look quite big. Are you getting the rubbing as your going round corners, could be rear axle bushes possibly. viewtopic.php?f=23&t=74683&st=0&sk=t&sd=a
k511fhe 0 Posted December 10, 2008 i get the rubbing all the time.have ordered some 5mm spacers, hopefully this will solve the problem.
Neil VR6 0 Posted December 10, 2008 I run 5mm spaces with my coilovers. Make sure you get hubcentric ones or taking the wheel on and off is a complete nightmare!
coullstar 0 Posted December 10, 2008 Still think you should find the problem though. The spacers may work but its not really fixing the issue.
