my new rado vr

Recommended Posts

hello all, after introducing myself and my car in the newbies bit i thought i'd give a bit more detail about my new purchase, but before that, this was the last car i had (hence my username) that went to make way for the rado

photos were done by jedi-knight83 on here (see detailing section) he's a very good old friend of mine, who ive been working with quite recently, however i only have a poopty camera phone and these are the only pics of the car i have as of yet

when i picked it up

desperately needed cleaning as it was filthy, which i did yesterday

now its filthy again due to typical british weather and roads, so i'll giv it another full clean tomorrow

on to the car, my plans are simple, both sides need painting (im fussy) and a few other little things, roof tilts but doesnt slide, anyone know how to cure this? alternator is noisey so thats coming off tomo aswell to have new bearings put in and reconditioned, i know someone who can do it very cheaply for me so beats buying a new one, and the abs is abit temperamental, can drive for miles and the light doesnt come on, other times it comes on straight away and yet others it will come on half way into a journey, im guessing this is just a faulty sensor (i hope :pale:  ) how can i test for this? then in the future, i may upgrade to some decent coillies, it has koni adjusables atm, and maybe some polished 928's

any comments welcome, cheers

stuart

That MK1 is a gorgeous car, bet you miss it.

Corrado looks sweet, plans sound good for it too.

You bet, I absolutely loved it, kind of wished I'd kept it but then I wouldn't of got the rado, maybe one day I'll get another one!

Thanks again for the good comments. Hopefully over Xmas I'll get both the sides prept ready for some fresh paint and then save for the upgrades :-D

Cheers stu

hello all, not been on for a while, but done sum stuff the the old rado. i was getting abit dissheartened with it thinking maybe i had made a mistake in buying it as i loved my old golf so much, but doing sum simple things to improve it has made such a difference, all ive done is fit new wipers so i can see out and uprated the bulbs to 100w items and gave the interior a full shampoo as it had sum staines on it, so now its nice and clean inside to sit in. also the bodywork i had planned got put on hold as i decided to go snowboarding instead, lol. but whilst i went away i took the old alternator off as it was making a right racket because the bearings were shagged, had it recon'd for the princely sum of free :D and fitted it back on. now its lovely and quiet and after 2 weeks of not driving it ive fallen in love again, its such a dream to drive, so the plans are still bodywork (which will be done when im away on my next boarding holiday in march) and coillies and sum polished 928's, which seem to pretty hard to track down, maybe im just not lookin in the right places??

It is a nice colour - one of my favourites. :)

By-eck though - the passenger seat's seen some action compared with the driver's!

yeah the pass seat was out of a mk2 hence why its a slightly different shape and shade of blue, was better than the cloth one it came with and was only £15
