vw domo 0 Posted December 23, 2008 does anyone, know what this is. (outlined in red if you can see it) i was told it was a exhaust recirculation valve pipe and couldnt find anythin on the search. the bung on the end split so i was just going to block up the hole with a bolt and washer at the manifold. good idea??? VEEDUBBED 0 Posted December 23, 2008 Sniffer pipe for the MOT station to sniff the CO content, you could block it off with a bolt no problem.
vw domo 0 Posted December 23, 2008 cool, will get onto that then. thanx. about to take a drive up to london and it seems to be blowing a fair amount which isnt good for the back-pressure i guess. the thread size on there isnt standard, m12 x 1mm pitch thread so im guna have to weld up the pipe unfortunatly. the MOT station will have to go sniff somewhere else
corradog60stage4 0 Posted December 23, 2008 yeah that is a CO test port. just plug it.
Lufbramatt 0 Posted December 27, 2008 dont think the MOT man uses that, he'll just stick the probe up the tail pipe. The CO sniffer pipe is for when your tuning the engine to give a specific CO reading (ie not running too rich/lean) as it gives you a reading before the cat. CazzaVR 0 Posted December 27, 2008 Just buy a new bung from VW... Had this go on one of my old valvers- makes the engine sound a bit more fruity!
