What is the Standard g60 exhuast rear box made from?

Is it stainless steel at all? the middlle part of the silencer looked shiny and untarnished compared to the rest of the exhaust and its much lighter compared to aftermarket silencers.

It's not stainless steel, but it's some kind of hybrid (maybe an aluminium/steel alloy?). It's certainly not just normal mild steel, no question.

It would be easy to think that the backbox on my car was the original unit from the factory as there are no reciepts to say its been replaced.

When i rubbed some dirt off the middle part of the silencer i can honestly say it was shiny like stainless steel it has some parts of corrosion on it but thats to be expected for a 12/13 year old car

yeah i finished off the work last night and its at home now, yeah thinking of getting a new box for it but i do like the look of the standard box :?

Going back to a previous thread, I think the standard pipe looking retro is absolutely spot-on for a car that looks retro!!
