Supercharged

[Halfords] 64pce eXtreme Socket set £39.99

Recommended Posts

For anyone who wants a fairly decent socket set for the car boot etc this is a very good price for the above set!

Very good ratchets (72 teeth) and has some good sizes going up to 24mm I think

Extra £2 off with the trade card which isn't much but worth mentioning

Yeah i bought quite a few bits of the pro range as you recomended a while ago when I did Jude's brakes on the storm, gave some of them a very hard time but didn't have any problems with any of it.

The Woman in the shop said they had a no quibble lifetime warranty too! cant beat that

they are superb tools, i had one of there 22mm sockets with the ratchet attached onto a 3 foot piece of scaffolding to free off a very tight bolt on a vectra gearbox :pukeright: the pipe bent, but the halfords tools had no sign of being in a fight :)

I also had the same problem with my 'Pro' ratchet it doesnt cover mechanical or moving parts...so whats the point??? yet they'll take it back if it looks a bit grubby!!

I Dont trust anything from halfords now, my missus got me a 6 drawer tool chest, lock didnt work (couldnt open it/close it), took it back to the store told them it was faulty, they fiddled with it for 10 minutes got it working for a bit then it broke again, they fixed it again...I told them it was fault and they said NO!!

so if it only opens/closes when it wants to that means its in good working condition??

Bunch of To$$ers...Draper or sealey for me everytime

:bad-words:

To be honest I use the Draper 'expert' at work at their ratchets are terrible, even went through a phase of the smaller ones exploding into pieces when you dropped them on the floor.

Halfords to their credit do replace pretty much anything in the 'pro' range with no questions and you can buy new ratchet mechs from them too.

well i cant say ive had any problems with my draper expert kit, its helped metake over half of my corrado to bits and put it all back together again, which is more than i can say for the halfords professional range, which didnt last very long at all...

I use the Halfords Pro stuff for work doing alot of heavy stuff with them, i have broken the 3/8" drive ratchet but that was trying to undo wheel nuts on my car without a breaker bar 1st and prob 1/2" would be better. The repair kits are a pain in the ass better of buying a new ratchet tbh, they will replace a rounded off socket and bent spanners even if you blatantly misused them.
