Majik 0 Posted December 19, 2003 Alright the car starts up alright from cold and idles at a steady rev but it feels a little lumpy when revving the engine so i need to know what to look for, what to clean out and what to replace to get a smoother idle? stevemac 0 Posted December 19, 2003 Current weather conditions may have highlighted dodgy plug leads & distributor cap. When it's running "lumpy" have a look under the bonnet & see if you can see any of the leads shorting out - easier to see after dark.
C. Will Corrado G60 2 0 Posted December 19, 2003 If your idle is rough try checking the vacuum pipe which is connected to the ECU and the top of inlet manifold. Check for for damage (holes etc). If you replace it make sure it's 1m long. Good luck...
stevemac 0 Posted December 19, 2003 Others to look for are:- Fuel filter (change every 2 years) Dirty Idle Stabilisation Valve - fits on top of cam cover. Faulty blue temp sender Incorrect timing adjustment Ageing/incorrect spark plugs - essential to use Bosch W6DPO on a G60 Faulty Knock sensor - or damaged wiring
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted December 19, 2003 Unusual for a G60 to idle badly. All the ones I've driven have a rock steady and smooth idle....something the VR6 should learn by! Kev
