cracked coilpack wiv pics

hi following on from my events :( this morning i fitted a new coilpack :shock:

 

this is the crack in my old one do you think from previous exsperience this would have effected it???

 

just curious now :shrug:

 

would have put the pic on here but for some reason i had to make it well small

Looks like a scratch in the casing to me mate, that big gash in the top right looks more like the culprit!

 

As with any part of the ignition system, if moisture can get in and short parts out then it will affect the operation of that part.

think thats crud in the top corner.

 

the bit the screwdriver is pointing to is 100% crack maybe the photo does not show it as well as i hoped

yes thats deffo a crack, mine had them in a few places when i took it off and its much better in wet/damp weather now with a new coilpack.

 

has the new coilpack solved your problem?

yeah touch wood it started first time. (think the frost we had this morning might have just finished it off.)

 

gonna pull the old one right apart just to be nosey.[list=]

When my coilpack went it started to stutter and misfire. Still driveable and didn't stall but sounded horific and had a major loss of power. If they were your symptons then that's almost certainly the cause. The test is to run the car with the broken coilpack fitted and spray water on it, gives a pretty funky light show
