another wet carpet problem

Recommended Posts

My other halfs Corrado has a re-occurring prolem with wet carpets, only in the front, and only the drivers side!

Now my initial thought was the door membranes, so Ive whipped the door card off, and resealed it all, but unfortunately it hasnt solved the problem!

Maybe the heater matrix, but it hasnt loast any coolant, and the carpet is soaked, so if the matrix was leaking to that extent, then there would never be any coolant in it.

Its a non sunroof model too, so its not the drainage tubes!

any other ideas?

im thinking its something to do with the build up of leafs and cack above the heater blower

and the water runs into the blower and then runs down the bulk head and on to the floor

i need a wet vac too!!

I have a similar problem, but on the passenger side.

Checked for leaf build-up, and the door seal. No problems.

Heater matrix was replaced recently, and there's no water loss.

It seems to be fine for a few weeks - then it's back.

Have now removed the whole of the passenger side carpet etc - hopefully I'll be able to 'see' where it's coming from next time.

Check the rear footwell too. I had a problem with water coming in from the rear light cluster (I think that's what the garage said!) which was tracking forward. All sorted now although under the spare wheel has been getting a little moist recently too! :confused4:

Ive been out today and checked the scutle tray, and its clear, ran some water down the drain channels, and they are clear, really getting stuck now. Its possible the windscreen seal could be letting it in, but the wet patch is right in the middle of the drivers side footwell, would have thought that if it was the screen seal, then the water would be near the pedals?
