Is there any way to check the A/C compressor before refillin

When I bought my Corrado last summer it was empty of gas on the A/C system, is there any way I could check if the compressor still work, before I get someone to refule it?......

 

Also should I change out any parts before refuling?.

switch it on from the dash and you'll feel the engine revs drop slightly as the clutch kicks in. When you get it regassed, ask them to inpect everything first and use a dye to check for any leaks.

Ok, so it should "kick" in even if it's out of gas?.

 

And if it's not kicking in, I have to buy a new one I guess?.....

if theres no gas in the system the compressor wont click cause theres no pressure but you can bypass it from the pressure switch by bridging 2 pins then if the compressor is ok it will click

You need to have the heater blower switched to "on" as well (i.e. 1,2,3 or 4)
