Meth 0 Posted May 11, 2009 Does anyone know what size allen bolt holds the rear calliper carriers on? Its a 1990 1.8 16v... it appears that my collection of 30 keys arent good enough! Cheers in advance :) Also - that gold "cap" that sits in front of the disc on the hub- how does that come off?
Supercharged 2 Posted May 11, 2009 Don't use a key mate, you need a socket really or you will round them.... The bolt is an M10 so I'm fairly sure you need an 8mm allen socket. Make sure you get new bolts to replace. if you still have probs just use Irwin bolt grippers on them. The dust cover required a special tool but you can use water pump pliers or tap a thin screw driver with a hammer the twist it, you may need to spin the disc and do this a few times to release it. If you remove the split pin you must use a new one too!
blue95 0 Posted May 11, 2009 give them a good soaking in wd40 a well, give it time to soak in. As said above use a good quality allen socket!
