Meth 0 Posted May 19, 2009 Ok so MOT was last week, it failed on a few things which have been now sorted - but it failed on the rear brakes and handbrake. Since then i have fitted new rear discs, pads, and callipers! However, i still cannot get the N/S handbrake to work properly. Both cables are free and both are pulling the ratchet on the callipers. The new callipers are recon ones so should all be fine, but what else could it be! The cables are adjusted realy quite far which they shouldnt be on new brakes... Im running out of ideas and i need it ready for MOT tomorow :( I dont want to have to fit new cables - they look like a right pain to fit! Anyone got any tips / tricks? I think currently the only idea i have is to slacken the cables right off again, pump the pedal and work the handbrake and see if the calliper ratchets will adjust themselves... but im not sure if they work on a ratchet system or not - i would imagine they do? SamG40 0 Posted May 27, 2009 Handbrake cables are a piece of p1ss. If you've had the calipers off you've already done the hardest bits before.
