Any reason to not choose the mk4 metal head gasket?

Might have to take of the head on my VR6 and was just wondering if there is any reason for not choosing the metal head gasket ?.

 

Also is this gasket the same for 2.8 and 2.9 ? (might put in order from the states as I need some other stuff from a store over there,m and presume it's for the 2.8).

Nope, no reason unless your head is severly pitted / corroded. The thin gaskets are less tolerant of surface imperfections than the old fibre ones, but the thin ones seal better in my experience though.
