Recommended Posts

I'v just noticed that the right hand front suspention is about a 1cm lower the on the other side Is this normal? and would this explain the slight pull to the right?

Is it the drivers side that's lower? As far as i know this is common on alot of older cars due to there generaly being more weight on that side with the driver being in the car alone

I could be talking crap though

I suggest you make sure the car is on plumb level ground.

My local exhaust man said the exhaust on our Pug 205 could not be adjusted any more to prevent occasional banging underneath.

He showed me how one wheel arch was nearer the tyre than its opposite number at other side of car, adding that the Pug 205 suspension was clapped out. I kind of believed him, though car had passed MOT at our fussy (but good) local garage a few weeks earlier.

When I took car home and checked clearances of wheel arches on my own drive they looked equal.

I went to a Peugeot specialist for a (paid for) assessment of suspension overall. After 20 minute suspension check he came back and said all was in good order - nothing needing replaced or adjusted.

Clearly, only a check like this or an instrumental suspension geometry test can reveal the truth. Judging by eye just ain't good enough.

At least that is my conclusion. I would suggest you do not rush into anything rash. Good luck.

Yeah definately a common occurrence. Had this issue with every set of suspension ive fitted to my VR - FK springs/shocks, cheapo V-maxx coilies. H&R springs/shocks and finally KW V1s. I did put it down to crap suspension at first, esp with the v-maxx. But after the same happening with the KWs i decided to have a read on here and found its due to the fuel tank and engine being slightly over to the drivers side.

I just adjusted the suspension to compensate.

The Corrado is actually configured for LHD, with the fuel tank and engine compensating for the driver.

On RHD, it kinda shoves it out of whack... The steering column and pedals being on the 'wrong' side means the ABS (on later cars) has to be moved too, which upsets the balance.

Its the same for most European designed cars, RHD conversions tend to be the after-thought, rather than part of the design.

Pity really!

But compensating is probably the right thing to do - as long as its definitely level ground!

Get that iPhone App out... ;)

ya it is on flat ground, I dont have an iphone :( ( dont want one any way :D ) just use a old fasion spirt level

I Thought it might of been a reason why it was drifting to the right slightly but I think its more the tracking than anything.

O well new suspension wont harm anything, just means I wont have to worry about it for a while longer :D

HAHA you and your lowering kits :D

its all ready low enough every time I come to a speed bump I slow right down. Probably being over protective :D

How much was it to lower your car?

No matter how slow I go I hit every speedbump :D That front splitter is gettin' a right good ole' bashing!!

I got a KW V1 kit, which has now gone up so just over £700 i think, had mine fitted by G-Werks too coz I wasn't 100% on what to do, they charged 120-150ish for installing and setting it up for me!

Well worth it tho mate, IMO a lowered stance makes the biggest difference to a factory car...THE best mod i'll ever make on my 'rado!!

Cool cool, how much was it lowered by. I've thought about it but all ways been to worryed about not being able to turn the wheel cos it would hit the wheel arch

Dunno - they're coilovers so there's no real definitive way of telling how much the drop is unless u anally measured the dimensions beforehand...which i didn't lol!

It's low enough, slightly higher on the O/S though so will hopefully get this corrected on the wknd!

Im keeping it on the standard 15" speedies for a while, and i've had absolutely NO problems with steering - just improved handling. OBV if u whack some phat 22" chrome spinners on and drop it to the floor  :epicfail:  ur gonna have a problem turning, so it all depends on what kind of set-up u want in the short and long term. But because (hopefully) u've got coilovers on, if u do have steering problems due to this, u can just raise the car a little! Bonus!! :thumb right:

Something els I will have to look into, and another thing added to the ever growing list :D

Top of the list is the G60 brake upgrade, bearings and tracking

Bear in mind guys that if you've set your height on the coilovers and had the geometry set up,If you adjust the height again, you will have to get the geometry done again... ideally.
