RadoVirgin 0 Posted June 18, 2009 Hi i'm wondering if anyone can help me, I purchased a set of MK3 GTi calipers to go on my 16v corrado but i'm not sure if they will fit! I've tried to find a part number on them but have drawn a blank. From a bit of research I have discovered that the Mk3s did two types of calipers. These were 280mm on the early models and 288mm on later models and I need to know how to tell the difference. My original plan was to use G60 discs as they are 4x100 pcd like my valver, i'd just like to see if there is someone out there who knows what they are doing before I cock it all up and buy the wrong thing!! Also will I be able to use my original brake hoses? Here is a rubbish pic lol!
davidwort 0 Posted June 18, 2009 288's the wire and the 'ATE' casting identify them you need the 280's which look basically the same as the 256's
RadoVirgin 0 Posted June 18, 2009 Bugger! So am I right in saying that these ar of no use to me at all? I'll have to start looking again!

RadoVirgin 0 Posted June 18, 2009 That looks awesome mate, my only worry is that do the pads hang over the edge of the disc meaning that they will wear with a lip on them. If they don't then I will use these calipers for my brake upgrade! Cheers mate
nmahi 0 Posted June 18, 2009 no, prefect fit....... mk gti calipers G60 drilled/groved/vented discs mk 3 gti hoses mk3 golf pads alot of blood, sweat and power coating....... aint tested them yet but they clear fine when spinned and bleed up fine too. I also used mk3 VR6 rear calipers.

pumbaa 0 Posted December 1, 2009 Do you need to change the hubs to fit these? I thought 288 golf carriers are part of the hubs and the 16v carriers are a bit too narrow to fit 280 discs and brakes? Kunaal
