Gearbox noises

Recommended Posts

Ok I managed to get the car back on the road after sitting for about a month. In that time I left it in gear with handbrake off.

I took it for a good run at the weekend and noticed a rattling type noise when I lifted of the throttle in 5th. It also does it slightly in 3rd as well. This noise does not dissapear with the clutch in so Im guessing its not the clutch release bearing.

I started the car up after leaving it for a while and whilst in neutral the gearbox was slightly noiser than ususal. The noise did dissapate though. Theres no vibration through the pedals and no issue with getting the gears selected.

Any suggestions on what this could be? Does it sound like as internal bearing?

Layshaft and input shaft bearings are favourites on the 02A....

So long as the noise doesn't get louder, ignore it

Had quite a few gearbox noise queries of late. I think they're just getting to that age! If it's not pressure plate creaking, it's rattling noises! O2As can go on for years making these noises though :D

Yes, that Gemini will utterly transform your car. Wish I could afford it :(
