Is the Corrado VR6 rear axel same as Passat 1.8?

Anyone know if the rear axel is the same as the ones used on a 1988-1994 1.8 Passat ?.

 

(reason for wondering is that I'm going to powdercoat it, and thought about taking the rear axel of my "parts" car passat). Not sure if it's the same though...
