Early and late dash differences?

Anyobdy know whether the early and late dashes are the same? I know this inserts, switches, dials etc are different, but are the dashes themselves the same size/shape construction etc? Thanks...

I think the only difference is the centre console support metalwork at the rear.

Have been thinking about doing that as well, I really prefer the late interior dash to the early one, its not a hugely major factor just a personal preference :)
