VR6 vibration through steering wheel

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Recently bought my first Corrado (95 VR6). She drives fine an pulls like a train :D but I am noticing a fair bit of vibration coming through the steering wheel when doing 30-50mph in 3rd and 4th and 5th and vibrating a little in other gears too but seems to go away when I put my foot down, when i dip the clutch the vibration goes away aswell. Also it has had a new clutch put in about 3 years ago. It is quite annoying and detracting from what is otherwise an absolute cracker! Is this a VR6 thing? Cause for concern? Any input welcome

Cheers,

Paul

could be engine/gearbox mounts. Also, are your wheels properly balanced - if not, this will cause the steering wheel to vibrate.

Less likely, but it could be warped discs. Mine we're warped a while back and vibration was only noticeable at certain speeds, but not under braking at all. Perhaps its like that when theres only a tiny bit of warping.

Mine does the same and I think it's connected with the steering rack as discs are more or less new, all new mounts fitted and it happens around 70/80 mph and reduces as the car goes faster or becomes less apparent. I will let you know who I get on in a couple of weeks when it gets sorted.
