bananawhip 0 Posted October 9, 2009 as per the title i have some sp263's on the way thanks to leon so when i put these in what other parts should i change ??? im gonna put new tappets in should i do springs and anything else ??? Congrats  You're going to absolutely love them!! A new cam sensor is essential as they tend to snap when taking them off the old cam, don't cost much either. Mine was a low milage engine so I didn't bother with new tappets but if I had the chance again I'd maybe be inclined to as mine sounds a touch tappity now, about £100 for a new set. Oil change wouldn't hurt after they've bedded in a bit, that's all I bothered with, didn't either get a map and I'm still getting awesome results, just depends how serious and how much money you want to spend. I did fit a newsouth phenolic gasket and insulted the underside of my manifold now I think of it, but I get carried with random little ideas that probably have no real gain :D

No worries let me know if I can help, fitted mine fairly recently although I nailed a crate of beer whilst doing it so my memory probably isn't as crisp as I would like :) Got my Newsouth gasket from Awesome GTI, Didn't realise DG did one too though. Powdercoating your manifold will look extremely cool but will hold more heat in. Although I suppose with an insulating gasket it won't matter as much
millerman 0 Posted October 9, 2009 was thinking of chrome powdercoat ! will this hold heat and how much are the obd2 cam covers ??
bananawhip 0 Posted October 9, 2009 was thinking of chrome powdercoat ! will this hold heat and how much are the obd2 cam covers ?? I'd like to see how that looked as mine's not as shiny as I would like, unfortunately it'll still hold heat but it really is debatable how much. I've only got so carried away with keeping things cool as I track mine, and all my mates have got S3's and R32's so every last pony counts :) Plastic cam covers can normally be found for about £20, lots of golf owners will do a swop for a metal one though, form or function really between the
