F**ked the rear wheel up

I just f**ked the left rear wheel up trying to miss a cat. :censored: :(

 

Doing about 45mph cat ran out in front of me and I braked and swearved to miss it, wet roads and back end steped out and the rear wheel slammed into the kurb.

 

The rims is shafted, bearing is rumbling, and disc is distorted.

 

The camber is out too, the wheel is leaning over itself.

 

Had the wheel off and the suspension seams ok, there is a dent in the back box where the two must of conected, but it looks straight.

 

Wha els could I have F**ked up? :(

i would get the wheel, brake disk and caliper carrier off, then take the stub axle off, if the bearing is rumbling it's quite likely you have bent the stub axle, also check the angle of the flat plate on the rear beam that the stub axle bolts to and compare it to the other side of the car, to rule out any damage to the rear beam.

 

a new stub axle is less than 20 quid so if the beam is ok it shouldnt be too bad, shouldn't be too hard to find a replacement wheel either.

Ya it could of been alot worst.

 

the car is all right to drive but there is a bad rumbel at about 40mph and when I'm driving realy slow 10 or so mph I can hear a high pitch noise. its not constant and is only when the wheel reaches a certain point in the rotation.

 

Will be taking it to the garage tomoro to see whats wrong.

 

I had the wheel off and the caliper earlyer and couldnt see much wrong with it behind, but I'm no expert :(

 

if the rear beam is damaged how much would that set me back?

Just been to the garage, looks like a new bearing, tyer and stud axle.

 

They cant get the stud axle tho so going to call the stealers now to see if they can.

 

Thanks for the offer D-Pete. Will let you know if I do, after i've been on holiday and its been fix I will take a trip to D&G to see what they say so might need it (if you stil have it by then)

 

And to rube salt into my wounds today. I managed to get my foot caught under the accelerator pedal and unclip the throttle cabel :censored: I couldnt get at it to fix it as I was at work so had to phone the RAC, 40 mins later was all fixed :censored:

I just rang the stealers and I can see why they are called them
