andy 0 Posted November 8, 2009 Hello it is Lisa here (Andy's other half) My VR6 fuel pump is noisey, I can hear it buzzing away constantly! Does this mean it is likely to fail imminently or continue to function for years to come? How much would it be for a new one? Cheers Lisa
CorradoVR6-Turbo 0 Posted November 8, 2009 its either a restriction in the fuel lines / fuel filter, loading up the pump or the pump starting to fail...as the pump is internal in the tank it has to be very loud for you to be able to hear it from inside :( does the noise vary at all? andy 0 Posted November 8, 2009 Hello, The noise just sounds like a constant whirring/buzzing it doesn't vary. Lisa
sixpotter 0 Posted November 8, 2009 Mine is very noisy like a vacuum cleaner! Benn like it since i've owned it and I changed the fuel filter too with no difference. Though the petrol coming out of the old one looked like JD and coke! Bought a spare off ebay for 99p but the guy I bought it off reckons they all sound like this? He runs the silver 400bhp VRT and knew his stuff I believe!
CorradoVR6-Turbo 0 Posted November 8, 2009 Standard internal pumps are whisper quiet,if you can noticeably hear it from in the car then something is wrong, external pumps like the valvers/G60's can be noisy but not the VR one.
Jim Bowen 1 Posted November 25, 2009 just having a quick search. been out in my vr6 just now, and noticed this last time i drove it. after about 30miles of driving there is a loud buzzing coming from the fuel tank, it stops if i turn car off and back on again. but wonder if this is related to the leaky fuel problem i've been having from the filter area
Slimg60 0 Posted November 26, 2009 I know when the pump failed on my G60 it was very noisy all the time, especially noticable when it primed itself before starting. not sure why it the increase in noise would go when the ingition is switched off and on, perhaps the pump is beginning to wear and a short break is enough to freshen it up again. Jim Bowen 1 Posted November 26, 2009 i was wondering the same, maybe its just worn and starts to struggle after a bit of a blast, over 60mph etc has done 180,000 now, everything else seems to be breaking :(
