John-M 0 Posted November 20, 2009 My front engine mount appears to be in need of replacement - excessive movement is 'seeable' :( There appears to be much mention of upgrading this mount to a TT/R32 one - but is it practical to upgrade just the one mount. rather than all of them ?? Does the upgraded mount add any/much noise/vibration - or is it an upgrade with little or no downside ? And now a practical question - is it possible to change this mount with just trolley jack and axle stands - or is it a garage job ? And can it be done without taking the bumper etc off ?? Any/all advice and guidance will be much appreciated. Oh, and any input from fellow 24V owners is particularly welcome.
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted November 20, 2009 TT/R32 refers to the rear wishbone bushes. Your choices for engine mounts are wide and varied but I like to use Vibratechnics. I think for you, the Fast road spec one will work best :D The Competition spec one will increase vibration a little and make the clutch feel quite abrupt on the take up. It's up to you though, the front engine mount support is isolated with rubber bushes, so you can go quite stiff without wrecking refinement completely. The rear and gearbox ones definitely increase vibration if uprated. Yep, easily doable on axle stands and basic tools :D
John-M 0 Posted November 20, 2009 Thanks Kev - I'll have a go :) I take it that the C uses the Golf Mk2 mount ?
