smithins 0 Posted December 2, 2009 Hi all 2.0 16v, always had a lumpy idle, driving back yesterday night and everytime i accelerated the car was very jerky and there were big flat spots pulling away from stationary. Managed to limp home and then tried to see what was wrong. Have cleaned the ISV all the vacuum hoses and checked for any splits, put all these items back on and now it is struggling to start. If you get the car running it is extremely lumpy and smokey (black smoke). Also wont rev up at all... Any offers on what it could be, suggestions so far were the ISV itself and coolant temperature sensor.... look forward to hearing your views , Jordan
D-Pete 0 Posted December 2, 2009 Black smoke is usually unburnt fuel. spark plugs fouled or HT leads on the way out perhaps? Injectors stuck open leading to over fuelling?
smithins 0 Posted December 7, 2009 Turns out it was the usual coolant temperature sensor! additionally the fuel pipe coming out of the filter/pump at the rear has two kinks in it so obviously caused a fuel starvation issue, thanks for the help!
