antinkariba 0 Posted December 5, 2009 Ok, so after changing the new dizzy and getting it all sorted out I finally got round to starting the car. It idled ok, but as soon as I started driving it started bucking about. The rev counter was jumping around like mad and the engine had no power. It was as though it was trying to stall. In first gear the car had no power - if I kept the clutch down a little it was better and moved but as soon as I lifted the clutch it would buck and jump around. Did not manage to get very far... Does this sound like a timing problem? or something else? Its running K-Jet too if that makes any odd.
Gareth_16V 0 Posted December 7, 2009 Sounds like an ignition electrical fault, especially as the rev counter was jumping. If it were me I'd check the engine earths first, especially the ones from the coil bracket to the head. Then have a look at dizzy hall sender, coil power stage etc. Do you know anyone with a K-Jet car you can swap ignition parts with to eliminate suspect parts?
