  1. Ah brilliant! What can I plug it on to? and what sort of readings can I get from it etc?
  2. New Matrix is back in, all the dash is in. The Glove box - OMG what a Bi*ch to re fit. Unnecessarily difficult... anyway I got a bit carried away and forgot to take many photos of it going back in. The old matrix seems to have been leaking so I'm guessing that was the issue. I'll know for sure when I reconnect the pipes back up this afternoon and refill it with coolant. While the dash was out I managed to find the wires I need to wire my gauge loom up. I've run the wires through to the engine bay for the sensor and the battery. Here is a picture of the clocks and gauges. I did find this behind the dash though. Its not live or anything. Where does it go?
  3. Right then, so the heater matrix replacement went something like this.. Dash ready to come out Dash out... While I was doing this I came across a few things that I dont know what they do... Firstly, what is the connector for in this image? And secondly, Whats this? Found it behind the dash.
  4. Heater Matrix time, a job that I was not looking forward to. However lack of heat and windscreen dimisting meant I had to get it done. So last night I started - and I must admit i was dreading it. However so far its not been as hard as I though. I managed to get the dash out in about an hour and 20 mins. As the night went on I took some more photos but cant get them off the camera at the moment so the Blackberry will do for now. I managed to get it all out with out any issues. The light went very quickly though so I stopped when I got to the point of taking the matrix out. Will do that tonight, and then re-plumb it all back in. I did find some random wires and connectors that I need to know what they do - but more of that later. While the clocks were out I though I would do what I have been wanting to do for ages and color the needles in. I have a set of VDO Gauges that have orange needles so I did the same with my dash ones. I think they look pretty sweet! They all need one more coat and then I think we are on to a winner! Will do more once I get the matrix out and start to put the dash back. As the dash is out, is there anything else I could do or should to save having to do it later on?
  5. I agree. I have an 89 Rado, and an early style bonnet and have had no issues with clearance. I stayed KJet all the way - and used the existing manifolds, both inlet and exhaust. As well as that I kept the dizzy, gearbox, all the existing sensors and water pump. I used an ABF flywheel too. Everything seemed to just fir together. I had to get a hall sensor, all i did was tie up the cable (I never cut it so that I can use it if I ever go ABF management)
  6. I fitted an ABF to replace my KR. I run the ABF on KJet and it all runs sweet as a nut. Never had any issues with the fitting of it either. All I had to do was remove one of the sound proofing panels on the bonnet as it was sticking in the throttle body. Power wise I can complain. Makes me smile every time I drive it.
  7. Saw two Corrado's yesterday. A green VR and Purple one at The Phirm. Looked pretty sweet!
  8. One of my front fogs doesn't work - I think its a wiring issue somewhere else, but if its not in the test then thats ok. I'll give everything a clean up and make sure there are no leaks. I do have a chip in my windscreen but its small at the moment. I need to get round to it.
  9. Cool, they are new anyway - less than 8 months old!
  10. The Corrado is going for its MOT next week. This weekend I am doing: The front brakes - discs and pads The steering rack boot What else should i think about doing/looking at?
  11. Yeah sure, its on the clubgti forum though. found here http://www.clubgti.com/forum/showthread.php?t=133418 Hope it helps
  12. So I have the car back - was a few issues with the dizzy (human error I think :( ) Have done a little work with her since then and as the MOT is due this month I needed to get the brakes on the front done and the stupid radiator started leaking. I also noticed that the steering rack boot was damaged so have ordered that too. Ordered a new radiator too - just need to get round to fitting it and should be ok. I have also booked it into The Phirm during half term as I am off to get the WUR done and the fueling set up correctly. Am hoping after that she will be running nice and smooth again! :)
  13. I did the same thing to mine - but I kept the K-Ket fuel injection. I used the AFB oil cooler housing and flywheel - everything else was taken off the KR engine - inlet manifold, exhaust manifold and all the sensors, water pumps etc. I think if you are using the loom you will need to the ABF loom.
  14. Right then - my ABF Corrado on K-Jet My Corrado died a few weeks ago while I was driving. Got towed home and then decided to work out what was wrong. There was oil in the spark plugs so I replaced the Rocker Cover and cleaned that all up. Thinking it would start I tired. Noting. Next I went and traced the spark and learnt that I had none. Replaced the coil pack and later replaced the dizzy. While doing this I tested all the leads to make sure they were not broken etc. Its now sparking but not starting. replaced the plugs while I was here too. Then suddenly it started and the timing was out so I adjusted it. Seemed to idle fine. Went to drive it and under any acceleration the engine would hop about jump around. The rev counter would bounce around from 2k to 5k. I stopped the car and it would not start again.. I now cant start the car. its got spark, its got air, its got fuel, the engine turns over.. Its an early ABF 93/94 and its an 98 Rado. Its doing my head in. :mad2:
  15. Ok, so after changing the new dizzy and getting it all sorted out I finally got round to starting the car. It idled ok, but as soon as I started driving it started bucking about. The rev counter was jumping around like mad and the engine had no power. It was as though it was trying to stall. In first gear the car had no power - if I kept the clutch down a little it was better and moved but as soon as I lifted the clutch it would buck and jump around. Did not manage to get very far... Does this sound like a timing problem? or something else? Its running K-Jet too if that makes any odd.
